In Service with Healing Roots since 1998.

Healing Roots is such an appropriate business name for what Tausha has built over the past 20
years. Celebrating her 20th anniversary this year, she looks back to what has always been a call
to be “in service”. In service to others, whether through her beginnings in catering and
restaurants to her now ever-growing massage therapy business, service has been the root of it all.

How does one transition from the food industry to massage? By getting injured. While working
her catering job, Tausha injured her back to the point that surgery was provided as an option in the
future if she kept going the way she was. After attending a convention on natural therapies, she saw the rewards of serving others, the benefit of the practice – in people. And as she researched additional ways to take a proactive approach to healing, ways to heal her back without going under a knife, she discovered massage therapy and yoga could bring the much-needed healing she desired.

After graduation, she began the long process of building her client list. Working in spas and
salons, she sat all day and became frustrated by people choosing to prioritize hair styles,
painted nails and facials over massage. One of her classmates had been the sister of a yoga
studio owner here in Fishers, Source Yoga. Reaching out to them she procured a private studio
room that her current clients to attend. Working multiple jobs to pay the bills while also in the
midst of starting Healing Roots, she realized she couldn’t do it all. No one wants a stressed out
massage therapist. Terrified to pursue full time massage, she continued her “day jobs” until
finally, a client told her to just go for it! A few small words that amount to a large undertaking.
She took that advice, jumped in head first and panicked.

Groupon at the time was a booming resource. Thinking that she could appeal to a smaller
audience, Tausha sent one out and waited. 800 appointments later, she knew people were
seeking help. They were seeking healing and just didn’t know how to get from point A to point B.
That Groupon helped Healing Roots to, well, become rooted in the community. A core base of
true clients were established, and she has had some of those same clients for over a decade.
Now that is service.

Throughout the past 20 years, learning to quiet her own mind, learning to meditate and focus
has not come easily. That’s the origin of the name Healing Roots. She knows that to be
effective, to flourish, you must be grounded. To care about the whole person – spiritual,
emotional, & physical – she must be rooted herself. 20 years in a small room gives one time to
find the balance, to “hold that space” for the person to heal. She has mastered the art of
preparing a space in which to serve others so that they may heal. Though mastery is never the
end. Tausha continues to learn, to research, to take classes, to read. And though her continuous
learning, she realized that she needed massage as much as others needed it. It has given her
drive and perseverance to continue to grow.

At Healing Roots, you won’t find your run of the mill massage. We’ve all had those, pretty basic,
maybe a little relaxing, but nothing that is true healing. Nothing that gets into the root of the pain. Healing Roots in different. Each client is approached differently. Each session is adjusted based on each person’s body. We’re all different from each other and we’re different with each session. Tausha has mastered the skill of listening to the body, hearing what it says each time. The trinity of healing – spiritual, emotional and physical – is the basis of each session. They all work together to benefit the body. She has been truly amazed to see how the energy of each person is different from the next. She places this same practice on herself. In the beginnings of the
business, she put in the leg work in to build her clients. But she realized, when she put the leg
work in on focusing on taking care of herself, the business came pouring in.

Holding court inside a yoga studio has shown her even more in how to pull other areas into
balance not just focus on one immediate thing. How can you heal if you’re sabotaging yourself?
She has relied upon her view of seeing things differently and looking to find different
approaches to all situations. As with any business, one must be flexible with change as well as
expect it. At Healing Roots, therapy comes in looking for change and healing in the pursuit of it.
Tausha is truly a gift of healing. A gift of ‘in-service’. If you have not yet experienced a massage
session at Healing Roots, you are missing out. People have this idea that massage is “fu-fu”, all
light and airy. In reality, true depths of healing the body, mind and spirit, are found through
connective, restoring massage therapy. Budget out time for yourself first or you will have no
time for others. You will be amazed at how better you feel, the better it is for everyone around
you. Take the time, friend.
